Westminster Presbyterian Church Installs Rev. Trevor Downie as Associate Pastor
March 9, 2026Westminster Presbyterian Church in Clinton celebrated an important moment in the life of its congregation on Sunday afternoon, March 8, with the installation of Rev. Trevor Downie as Associate Pastor.
Downie has faithfully served the church for more than ten years, and the congregation’s call to this new role reflects both their appreciation for his years of ministry and their confidence in his continued leadership.
The installation service was convened by Calvary Presbytery, the regional body of congregations within the South Carolina Upcountry. Westminster Presbyterian Church is a member of the Presbyterian Church in America.

Members of the congregation, along with Downie’s family and friends, gathered for the special service marking the occasion and offering prayers for his continued ministry. The service was led by Senior Pastor Rev. Chad Reynolds and members of the installation commission.
Those participating in the service included Dr. Sam Burnett, Ruling Elder from Greenwood; Rev. John Owen Butler, Teaching Elder at Lebanon Presbyterian Church; Rev. Dr. Robert Cathcart, Teaching Elder at Friendship Presbyterian Church; Jimmy Compton, Ruling Elder at Christ Community Church; Rev. Chad Reynolds, Teaching Elder at Westminster Presbyterian Church; and David Zwan, Ruling Elder at Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Installation services are a significant tradition in Presbyterian churches, formally recognizing a pastor’s call and the congregation’s commitment to support their ministry. The service included prayers, scripture, and affirmations of faith as Downie was officially installed into the role.
“I am deeply grateful for the love and support this congregation has shown my family and me over the past decade,” said Downie. “It is a privilege to continue serving alongside Pastor Chad and the faithful members of Westminster as we seek to share the Gospel and serve our community.”
Senior Pastor Chad Reynolds noted that the installation represents a natural next step in Downie’s ministry at the church.
“Trevor has faithfully served Westminster for many years with humility, wisdom, and a heart for people,” Reynolds said. “This installation affirms what our congregation already knows — that his leadership and pastoral care are a tremendous blessing to this church.”
For Westminster Presbyterian Church, the moment represented both continuity and growth. Having already served the congregation for more than a decade, Downie’s installation as Associate Pastor affirms the strong relationship he has built with the church community and signals a continued commitment to shared ministry in the years ahead.
