Clinton High School Boys Tennis Sweeps Mid-Carolina, Improves to 6–1 Overall
March 25, 2026Clinton High School’s boys tennis team delivered a dominant performance on the court, shutting out Mid-Carolina High School with a 6–0 victory in region play.
The Red Devils controlled the match from the start, sweeping all singles and doubles contests that were played and showcasing depth across the lineup.
At No. 1 singles, Matthew King secured a strong win over Jacob Bouknight, 6–2, 6–1. Edwin Orr followed with a commanding 6–0, 6–0 victory at No. 2 singles against Alex Bunce. The momentum continued as Jacob King (No. 3) and Jake Meyerholtz (No. 4) each posted shutout wins, both defeating their opponents 6–0, 6–0.
At No. 5 singles, Cooper Stinson capped off the singles sweep with a 6–1, 6–3 win over Will Smith.
In doubles action, the No. 2 team of Malakye Brewer and Hang Lanford dominated their match, defeating Treyon Jackson and Jamar Connelly 6–0, 6–0. The No. 1 doubles match was not played.
With the win, Clinton improves to 6–1 overall and remains undefeated in region play at 3–0.
The Red Devils will look to continue their strong season on Thursday, April 2, when they travel to face Woodruff High School. Match time is set for 5:00 p.m.
