Corn maze, bluegrass and a giant slide: LushAcres fall festival returns

LushAcres Farm will open its gates to families for its annual fall festival every Saturday in October, running from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31.
Admission at the gate is $15 for visitors ages 3 and older, and children 2 and younger get in free. One fee covers the full slate of activities at the farm at 1875 W. Maple St. Extension in Clinton.
What’s included with admission
The corn maze remains the centerpiece of the event, but the admission price covers far more than a walk through the corn. Visitors get access to corn cannons, wagon rides, barnyard animals, face painting, mini-train rides, a jump pad, a corn pit, a giant slide, a bouncing rodeo, GaGa ball, barnyard basketball, the playground and photo opportunities set up around the property. Live music is included as well.
Live music every Saturday
A different act takes the stage each Saturday, with two sets at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. West End String Band opens the run on Oct. 3, followed by McKinney Gap on Oct. 10 and solo artist Matt Crisp on Oct. 17. The Oct. 24 performer is still to be announced, and Cross Ties Bluegrass Band closes out the season on Oct. 31.
Add-on activities
A few extras are available beyond the gate fee. Animal feeding machines cost a quarter, and the farm’s gem mine offers a prospector’s bag for $20 or a forty-niner bucket for $40.
Food, shopping and the pumpkin patch
Food and concessions will be available on site, and the farm market will be open along with the pumpkin patch and a mums garden.
Vendors village
The festival’s vendor village brings a lineup of handcrafted and locally made goods. Shoppers will find wax melts, warmers, car air fresheners, room sprays, carpet fresheners and shower steamers, along with crochet plushies, beaded jewelry, wooden bowls, cutting boards, stove top covers, customizable signs and hot plate holders. Farm-fresh and homemade offerings include jams, jellies, herbal salts, baked goods, herbal crafts and herb plants suited to a kitchen garden or windowsill. Wags N Whiskers will be on hand with freshly baked soft treats for dogs, cats and horses, plus other items for pets.
About the farm
LushAcres sits on 340 acres of the Thornwell campus and operates as an extension of the Thornwell ministry. The farm raises beef cattle, pasture-raised broilers and egg layers, and a range of seasonal produce, with U-pick strawberries, blueberries and blackberries in the spring and pumpkins in the fall. It also hosts school field trips and educational gem mining sessions during the school year.
Proceeds from the festival support Thornwell’s work to prevent child abuse and neglect, build and reunite families, and strengthen communities.
