A Great Opportunity for Local Nonprofits

Working together. Every day we work with others; collaborating with a colleague at work, completing chores with the help of a family member, finishing a neighborhood project with friends. Working together brings the opportunity for new resources, new ideas and the ability to magnify our organizations’ efforts.
That is why Central Carolina Community Foundation is hosting Midlands Gives on May 6 — to provide nonprofits in our 11-county service area with the opportunity to join forces. The goal? To raise as much money and awareness as possible for Midlands’s nonprofits during this 24-hour online giving challenge.
The Community Foundation is presenting this event on May 6, 2014, as part of a national effort called Give Local America. Nationwide, folks will be encouraged to make donations that support vital causes in their own communities. In our counties, online donations to participating nonprofits will go further thanks to prize incentives and a bonus pool provided by generous sponsors and contributors.
So why should nonprofits join us? Well, it’s easy and it’s free to become a participant in Midlands Gives. Organizations don’t need to have a fund at the Foundation to participate and all the money raised is unrestricted.
Online giving is increasing in popularity with year over year increases of around 13 percent. Participating in a Giving Day can raise a nonprofit’s public image considerably and expand its circle of supporters leading to greater year-round giving.
In addition, the Community Foundation is providing free training and resources to organizations to ensure their efforts are successful. The more an organization raises, the larger their share. Every gift goes farther with bonus funds!
Many of you work with and support nonprofits in the Midlands. Please encourage them to join the Community Foundation and help magnify the Midlands!
