February 11, 2008

COLUMBIA, SC – February 11, 2008 – The 2008 ADDY® Awards Gala, presented by AAF of The Midlands, will be held Saturday, February 23, live at The Township Theater in downtown Columbia. Festivities will begin at 6 p.m. and will conclude around midnight after a concert by Crash Cadillac.

The mission of the ADDY Awards is to recognize and reward creative excellence in the art of advertising. The awards, which are open to all advertising professionals and students, were due in early January. There were a total of 324 entries this year, and of those, 115 will be presented with awards at the Gala. The ADDY competition in Columbia is the first of a three-tiered national competition. Winners at the local level can proceed to the district-level competition, and if successful there, can proceed to compete for a National ADDY Award.

“Winning an ADDY Award is one of the most prestigious professional distinctions that a creative advertising professional can earn,” said Alanna Ritchie, President of AAF of The Midlands. “To be recognized in this way is indeed an exciting and significant honor.”
