Above Grade Level to sponsor free proctored SAT for area high school students

September 30, 2013

COLUMBIA, SC – September 30, 2013 – As the nation’s most widely used college admission test, the SAT is the first step toward higher education for students of all backgrounds. It’s taken by more than two million students every year and is accepted by virtually all colleges and universities.

Above Grade Level will sponsor a free proctored SAT for Columbia Area high school students as a way to help them prepare for this all-important exam for college entry. Owner, Jenna Bridgers says, Research shows that the best preparation for this test is to replicate what the student will go through on the actual exam day. There is a lot more to it than just showing up with a No. 2 pencil and taking the test. There is anxiety for a lot of students, not only because it is timed, but because there it so much riding on their results.

According to the College Board, the SAT provides a trusted, globally recognized indicator of your academic readiness for college. In a way, the SAT is the bridge between the hard work you’ve already done and the college that is the best fit for the future you are about to create.

We know this is an exciting and nerve-racking time for our high school juniors and seniors, says Bridgers. We wanted to provide a safe place for them to come in, take a practice test and shake off some of those nerves before they get to the real thing. It will be exactly like what they can expect to experience the day of, and we will be able to give the students some valuable feedback to help them prepare in the best way possible.

The practice exam will be held on Saturday, Oct 19th from 8:30 to 12:30 at the Clarion Hotel on Gervais St., downtown Columbia. Spaces are limited to 20 students. Call Above Grade Level at 542-7316 for more information.
