Adam Schrimmer, owner and lead artist at Blank Canvas Mural Company has been commissioned to paint a mural inside The Children’s Museum of the Upstate. The museum, located at 300 College Street in downtown Greenville, South Carolina is designated as a Smithsonian Museum Affiliate. The project will begin on Monday, May 3rd and be completed by the end of May.
The 1,050 square foot mural entitled “Rooftop Dreams” will be part of an area renovation of the main floor currently used for educational and interactive programming. The mural will transform the space into The Dream Theatre to engage children of all ages in new storytime and other exciting programs.
“Rooftop Dreams” will portray the Greenville skyline and span the horizontal walls illustrating dawn to dusk in tones graduating from pale orange to deep purple. As they sit on the floor, the children will have an eye-level view as if they are peering over the rooftops. The skyline will include iconic downtown buildings and incorporate newer additions such as the Grand Bohemian Hotel and the Camperdown development.
The Children’s Museum of the Upstate’s Program Manager Javy Pagan states, “At TCMU, the number one family favorite program offering is “Storytime and More.” We’re very excited to create this immersive and creative space for children’s literature where children can dream and truly put themselves ‘into’ the story. The museum is thrilled to have an artist of Adam’s caliber collaborate with us to bring the space to life.”
Adam Schrimmer remarks, “I’m thrilled to design and execute this artwork to reimagine the main floor of the museum. It’s such an honor to do this project, and I know children will enjoy it for decades.”
Schrimmer’s other murals can be found at the One Miami Condominium in Miami, Florida, Facebook offices in North Carolina as well as numerous mural projects in and around the city of Greenville for a variety of businesses including Michelin, Fluor Field, Aloft Hotels, Hampton Station,
Poe West, Ally Coffee, and Birds Fly South.
