The City of Columbia is now accepting applications to fill several vacancies on the following boards and commissions.
BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS
Seeking to fill two (2) vacancies.
The Board of Zoning Appeals is a quasi-judicial board that makes decisions regarding zoning issues. Cases are posted and advertised in accordance with Chapter 17 of the City Code of Ordinances and with Title 30, Chapter 4 of the code of Laws of South Carolina. – Term- 3 years
CLIMATE PROTECTION ACTION COMMITTEE (CPAC)
Seeking to fill three (3) vacancies.
The purpose of the Climate Protection Action Committee (CPAC) is to recommend and oversee the development and implementation of mission-based programs and projects by developing and advocating a vision and strategy for becoming a sustainable community in partnership with key stakeholders and other communities. Term- 3 years
COMMERCIAL REVOLVING LOAN FUND (CRLF)
Seeking to fill one (1) vacancy: one (1) for a Small Business Owner.
The City of Columbia is accepting applications for the Commercial Revolving Loan Review Board. Individuals applying for this board must be an Attorney. The purpose of this committee is to review and approve/disapprove applications for loans from the City of Columbia Commercial Revolving Loan Fund. – Term- 2 years
DESIGN DEVELOPMENT REVIEW COMMISSION
Seeking to fill two (2) vacancies- one (1) Community Representative and one (1) Architect.
The purpose of the Design/Development Review Commission (DDRC) is to review and approve work proposed within the City’s historic districts, urban design areas, and upon designated landmarks. Term – 3 years
GREATER COLUMBIA COMMUNITY RELATIONS COUNCIL (GCCRC)
Seeking to fill six (6) vacancies.
The purpose of this Council is to study and evaluate information concerning community relations issues within the community and to formulate and submit opinions and recommendations as to possible courses of action that appear in the best interest of the community as a whole. The CRC’s board of directors and committees meet bi-monthly, and the majority of meetings take place after 5 p.m. As part of their service, board members are asked to assist with our fundraising efforts by either giving or soliciting contributions up to an amount of $1,500. Each member is tasked with the same responsibility. – Term- 3 years.
HOSPITALITY TAX ADVISORY COMMITTEE (H-TAX)
Seeking to fill four (4) vacancies for: Two (2) Restaurateurs and one (1) At-Large seat, and one (1) Arts and Cultural Liaison.
The Hospitality Tax Advisory Committee is tasked with reviewing applications for hospitality funding and making recommendations to Council for the disbursement of those funds. The committee is composed of eleven (11) individuals. The committee consists of six (6) restaurateurs and five (5) at-large members. Term- 2 years
Deadline – Applications are due no later than March 2, 2025
