January 22, 2010

COLUMBIA, SC – January 21, 2010 – The American Advertising Federation (AAF) of the Midlands has extended its application deadline to Feb. 5 from nonprofit organizations that wish to become the club’s pro-bono public service client for 2010. Each year, AAF of the Midlands selects a nonprofit organization in our community and assists it with its marketing and advertising needs.

Currently AAF of the Midlands is working with the Palmetto Colorectal Cancer Coalition to promote statewide awareness of the need for colorectal cancer screenings in anticipation of National Colorectal Cancer month in March 2010.

In 2007, AAF of The Midlands worked with Sistercare, a local program of services for battered women and their children, helping the organization raise over $40,000. AAF of the Midlands received a first place Club Achievement Award in the area of Public Service for its work with Sistercare. The American Advertising Federation presents the Club Achievement Awards annually to AAF Chapters whom display exceptional accomplishments through club operations.

To qualify to become the next public service client, applicants must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in Richland or Lexington County. The deadline to submit a proposal is February 5.

Following a review process, AAF of the Midlands will contact selected candidates and hold individual interviews to determine the client’s advertising and marketing. Finalists will be asked to make a 5 to 10-minute presentation to the AAF of the Midlands board in late February.
