AFL supports STEM summer camp scholarships at Greenville Technical College

A $2,500 grant from AFL to the Greenville Tech Foundation will provide scholarships for middle school students interested in STEM-related summer camp sessions. Adventure TECH summer camps are offered in STEM topics including animation, video game design, 3D printing and design, CNC machining, and virtual and robotic welding. Adventure TECH also offers animal care, agriculture, drone, etiquette, and culinary-oriented career camps.

Scholarship funding from AFL will increase the affordability and accessibility of summer camp sessions, allowing more students to focus on career pathways in STEM fields. The camps, featuring interactive, hands-on learning, are designed to ignite a spark for learning that propels students forward.
More than a summer camp, AdventureTECH exists to create career pathways for middle school age students by exposing them to subject matter experts, providing state of the art campus learning environments, and allowing students to get hands-on experience in the various career cluster areas with GTC faculty. Adventure TECH summer camps, established in 2018, are popular with rising sixth through eighth graders. In 2019, more than 300 campers participated. AFL’s Community Outreach Program supports initiatives worldwide where it has operations. Grant funding focuses on STEM Education and Youth Development.
