Agreement with Coker University benefits PTC business graduates

March 28, 2024

Thanks to a new partnership, students who earn an associate in applied science degree in business from Piedmont Technical College (PTC) can now transfer seamlessly to Coker University to earn their bachelor of science in business administration with concentrations in accounting or management and leadership. In addition, PTC graduates with an associate in applied science in computer technology with a cybersecurity concentration are also eligible for admission to Coker to pursue a bachelor of science in cybersecurity.

Officials from both schools signed a supporting articulation agreement on March 25, 2024, in Greenwood. The agreement also allows PTC students to enroll in additional programs offered through Coker. For them, credited work will be evaluated on a course-by-course basis.

“As we are in the business of transforming lives, transfer agreements like this expand our ability to empower Piedmont Technical College business majors who wish to obtain a bachelor’s degree,” PTC Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Keli Fewox said. “These agreements strengthen support for our mission by extending educational pathways to student success.”

Through the new agreement, Coker will guarantee admission to qualified PTC graduates, assigning academic placement as a junior. It takes effect beginning with the fall semester of the 2024-25 academic year.

“We are excited to have this new 2+2 agreement with Piedmont Technical College that allows PTC students to continue their studies at Coker in the field of accounting, cybersecurity, or management and leadership and complete a bachelor’s degree,” Coker Provost Dr. Susan Henderson stated. “We welcome PTC students as Coker students and look forward to the experiences they will bring, the knowledge they will share, and the growth they will experience while on their path for continued success.”
