Al Cannon and Carter Hall Receive their CFP® Certification

January 12, 2015

GREENVILLE, SC – Al Cannon and Carter Hall of Nachman Norwood & Parrott received their CFP® (Certified Financial Planner™) certification. A CFP® certification is a professional designation that is the standard in the financial industry. CFP® professionals are held to a higher level of competency, ethics and professionalism than regular financial planners.

“At age 54, I am thrilled to be able to have earned this certification to show my commitment to life-long learning,” said Al Cannon, Nachman Norwood & Parrott Managing Director. “I have several other designations and advanced degrees, but I consider the knowledge gained with this certification critical in helping clients build, manage, protect and transition wealth.”

To become a CFP® professional, an individual must complete requirements in three areas: education, experience and ethics. For the education portion, there is a nine-month study curriculum of tax planning, investments, employee benefit, general principles, retirement planning, estate planning, professional conduct and fiduciary responsibility. For the experience section, each individual must work at least three years in the financial planning field. The individual must adhere to the highest standards of ethics for the ethics portion. Once these three requirements are completed, an individual must pass a six-hour exam on all financial topics.

“This designation not only helps Al and Carter professionally, but it will also help the practice serve our clients well,” said Bob Nachman, Nachman Norwood & Parrott Managing Director. “Our clients will benefit the most because we will be able to help them better achieve their long-term goals. We are excited both Al and Carter have decided to take this next step.”
