All ReWa facilities receive SCDES Facility Excellence Awards

Renewable Water Resources (ReWa) has received Facility Excellence Awards for all nine of its water resource recovery facilities from the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SCDES). The awards recognize facilities that demonstrate outstanding performance in multiple areas.  

“This recognition reflects the dedicated work of everyone across our utility, including our operations teams, and those who support them,” said Brian Smith, ReWa’s operations services officer. “Their commitment ensures we continue to protect public health and the environment every day.”

The following ReWa facilities received Facility Excellence Awards: 

  • Durbin Creek WRRF 
  • Georges Creek WRRF 
  • Gilder Creek WRRF 
  • Lower Reedy WRRF 
  • Marietta WRRF 
  • Mauldin Road WRRF 
  • North Greenville University WRRF 
  • Pelham WRRF
  • Piedmont Regional WRRF

The award is a reflection of a utility’s facility and collection system operations, regulatory compliance, operator certifications, geographic information system mapping, asset management, employee training, industrial pretreatment programs, customer service, financial health and public education initiatives. 

SCDES presents the Facility Excellence Awards in partnership with the Water Environment Association of South Carolina (WEASC). Facilities with a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit are eligible for recognition.

ReWa has earned this honor consistently since the award’s creation in 2007, underscoring the utility’s long-standing commitment to operational excellence and environmental stewardship.
