Amelia Beasley Showcases Lander Spirit with her Heart of Servitude
May 5, 2026There is a belief that pushes one Lander student to succeed in everything she does: “There is not a more prevalent time than now that we need people to uphold the law and support others”.
Amelia Beasley, a business administration major with a pre-law minor, is a senior from Elgin, South Carolina. She has dreamed of becoming a lawyer since childhood and committed to Lander’s pre-law program to follow that dream.
Beasley is involved in many areas of the Lander community. She is currently the president of the Student Government Association and been a member since her freshman year. She serves as the Resident Assistant Director and is a member of the Lander women’s rugby team. Her interestsexpand past academics and athletics; as a frequent painter, she feels especially connected to the art department and uses creativity to express herself.
She enjoys her legal classes and has specifically taken an interest in Elizabeth Floyd’s legal studies class. Floyd, a teaching assistant professor of Political Science and Legal Studies at Lander, commends Beasley’s dedication and maturity. She admires how Beasley “contributes meaningfully to the class discussion and asks insightful questions that show her intelligence.”
After graduation, she plans to spend a gap year studying for the LSAT exam and then attend law school. Her desire to go into law is founded in her empathy. “Supporting and fighting for others by navigating legal structures that are intentionally made unclear to them is vital public servitude that I can envision myself fitting well in,” Beasley said.
