American College of the Building Arts to hold 2016 commencement excercises

The American College of the Building Arts will confer degrees on eleven graduates at its Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 14, at 10:00am at the Unitarian Church in downtown Charleston.  The graduates represent the traditional building arts of timber framing, architectural carpentry, masonry, plaster, and stone carving.  

Receiving an Associate’s Degree of Applied Science in the Building Arts are Gregory Bakos of Greer, SC and Alex Joyce of Freeland, MD.

Receiving a Bachelor’s Degree of Applied Science in the Building Arts are Valedictorian Shane Sakal of Rochester, NY; Andrew Bayer of Middleton, WI; Thomas Coleman of Travelers Rest, SC; Samuel Friedman of Madison, WI; Phillip Jacob of Troutsville, VA; Walker Janney of Fredericksburg, VA; Charles Shuler of Santee, SC; Brian Solomon of Charleston, SC; and Jonathan Swift of Franklin, TN.

Following the procession of the graduates, faculty members and dignitaries, the ceremony will begin with an Invocation by [INSERT INVOCATION] of St. Philips Episcopal Church.  Welcoming Remarks will made by Pierre Manigault, Chair of the ACBA Board of Trustees.

The American College of the Building Arts is the only four-year liberal arts college in America educating and training artisans in the traditional building arts to foster exceptional craftsmanship. ACBA will be moving to its new campus at 469 Meeting Street for the start of the Fall Semester.
