American Community Enters South Carolina Market With a New Affordable Health Insurance Option
June 4, 2009LIVONIA, Mich. – June 4, 2009 – American Community Mutual Insurance Company today announced that it has entered the South Carolina market with Community Flex(TM), a competitive health insurance product for individuals and families. The product is designed to help hold down medical expenses and is available through independent agents with a coverage effective date beginning July 1, 2009.
Offering three plan designs–Flex 100, Flex 80 and Flex 60–Community Flex gives consumers multiple options for deductibles and benefit percentages to provide value and choice. As an added benefit, the premium rate is guaranteed for the first 24 months of coverage when a deducible of $5,000 or higher is selected. For network deductibles of $500 – $3,500, the premium rate is guaranteed for the first 12 months of coverage.
Policyholders have access to leading PPO (preferred provider) networks with access to more than 7,100 hospitals, primary care physicians and specialists through the PHCS(R) Network. In addition, Community Flex features the choice and coverage that today’s individuals and families need:
- $5 million lifetime policy maximum per person
- Accident benefit included on all options
- Accidental death and dismemberment coverage
- Option to upgrade to the Gold Benefits package for richer benefits on covered services
- Value discount card included; enhanced prescription options available
- Vision benefits
With the downturn in the economy, many people no longer have access to employer-sponsored health insurance, said Neal Spero, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. The Community Flex product is an affordable option to meet the needs of today’s consumers who are looking to purchase coverage on their own.
