American Heart Association Recognizes Richardson Plowden as Top Fundraiser

Law firm contributes $10,500, more than doubling its 2008 donation
COLUMBIA, SC – June 4, 2009 – Even in a tough economy, Richardson Plowden & Robinson, P.A., knows how to fundraise. Without skipping a beat, the attorneys and staff of the law firm more than doubled their previous year’s contribution to the 2009 American Heart Association Midlands Heart Walk, raising $10,500. In 2008, Richardson Plowden raised $4,200.
In recognition of Richardson Plowden’s accomplishment, the American Heart Association presented the firm with two awards, the Top Fundraising Company with Less than 100 Employees Award and the Highest Percentage of Employees Participating in a Company with Less than 100 Employees Award. This marks the second consecutive year Richardson Plowden has raised more money than any other company in the Midlands with fewer than 100 employees. The firm also ranked in the top 12 for all participating companies regardless of size.
Richardson Plowden’s outstanding performance is the result of creative fundraising. The firm held a variety of events, including a garage sale, spaghetti dinner, bake sale, a raffle, and a breakfast, all of which contributed to the overall amount raised.
Travis Vance, an attorney who leads the firm’s philanthropic efforts attributes their success to a passion for the work done by the American Heart Association’s efforts to reduce deaths caused by cardiovascular disease. We all have family members or friends who have been taken from us by heart disease. That motivated us to give to the cause and to encourage many other individuals and businesses from our community to join us,” Vance commented.
Vance gave a special thank you to the Richardson Plowden American Heart Association Fundraising Committee, which included Nancy McLendon, Leslie Chartier, Nicole Brinegar, and Sonya Hargrove.
