American Legion Post 25 5th Annual Charity Run: Riding for a Cause

April 16, 2024

Laurens County is gearing up for a big event that promises lots of fun but also supports a noble cause. American Legion Post 25 is all set to host its 5th Annual Charity Run on Saturday, May 4th, starting and ending at the Lumberyard on 115 Gary Street in Clinton. This event is not just about motorcycles and riding; it’s about making a meaningful impact in the lives of local veterans and community members in need. The 2023 Charity Run raised $5,000 and the Post is hoping to surpass this amount for 2024.

The Charity Run serves as a vital fundraiser for the American Legion Post 25. All proceeds raised during this event go directly towards funding the legion’s crucial work within the community. From building accessibility ramps to assisting with home repairs and yard maintenance, Post 25 is known for its hands-on approach to improving the lives of veterans and residents alike.

The event itinerary is packed with excitement and camaraderie. Registration kicks off from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Lumberyard, with the first bikes hitting the road at 11:00 AM. Riders and passengers can participate in the charity run for $20 per hand, with passengers paying just $10. At each of the five designated stops—Lumberyard, Just One More, Harris Landing, and Big Daddy’s—participants will draw a card, vying for the best and worst hand prizes.

Post Commander Kevin Farnsworth is enthusiastic about this year’s event, noting, “The Charity Run is not just a ride; it’s a demonstration of the generosity and community spirit in Laurens County. Every dollar raised goes back into supporting our veterans and community projects. It’s heartwarming to see the continued support from our attendees.”

Following the ride, participants and supporters will gather back at the Lumberyard for an afternoon filled with live music, a spirited auction, raffles, and door prizes.

The success of the American Legion Post 25 Charity Run rests on the shoulders of its dedicated participants and generous sponsors. This annual event exemplifies the essence of giving back and rallying together for a common cause. Laurens County residents, whether motorcycle enthusiasts or not, are encouraged to join in, contribute, and show their support for the tireless work of Post 25.

To get involved, whether as a rider, volunteer, or supporter, mark your calendars for May 4th and head down to the Lumberyard. Let’s ride for a cause, Laurens County!
