For American Legion Post 25 in Laurens, service to veterans and the community isn’t just a mission—it’s a way of life. Known for their annual toy drive and other fundraising efforts, the post’s members, Sons of the Legion, and Legion Riders dedicate countless hours to giving back. But beyond the well-known events, there’s a side to their generosity that often goes unnoticed.
Recently, Post 25 stepped up to assist an 85-year-old veteran whose home sustained significant damage during Hurricane Helene. With limited insurance coverage and no clear path to recovery, the veteran turned to his fellow Legionnaires for help. Without hesitation, the members mobilized, bringing together resources, labor, and donations to make a difference.
“This is just one example of where the money we raise in the community goes,” said Post Commander Kevin Farnsworth. “We have some dedicated veterans, Sons of the Legion, and Legion Riders who are always willing to help in the community.”
Thanks to the generosity of Carolina Waste Management, which donated a dumpster to assist with cleanup efforts, Post 25 was able to reduce costs and maximize the impact of their support.
While this project is just one of many undertaken by the post, it underscores their unwavering commitment to serving veterans and elderly residents of Laurens County. Without fanfare or publicity, they get the job done—because for them, service never stops.
For those who have ever wondered where their donations go, this is a perfect example of how Post 25 ensures every dollar raised directly benefits those in need.
