American Legion Post 25 to host Wattsville area cleanup Oct. 24

American Legion Post 25 will lead a community cleanup in the Wattsville area of Laurens on Saturday, Oct. 24.
Volunteers will gather at Eastside Baptist Church, 355 Conway Ave. in Laurens, and work from 9 a.m. to noon. Vests, trash bags and gloves will be provided.
“Service does not stop when you take off the uniform,” Post 25 Commander Kevin Farnsworth said. “This is our community, and a few hours on a Saturday morning can make a real difference in how it looks and how people feel about it. We would love to see neighbors come out and work alongside us.”
The cleanup is supported by the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office and Keep Laurens County Beautiful, a Keep America Beautiful affiliate that works to reduce litter and improve the appearance of communities across the county.
Roadside litter cleanups depend on volunteer turnout, and organizers welcome residents, families, church groups, civic clubs and student groups looking for service hours. Participants are encouraged to dress for outdoor work, wear closed-toe shoes and bring water.
American Legion Post 25 serves veterans and their families in the Laurens area and takes part in community service projects, patriotic programs and youth activities throughout the year.
