American Red Cross of Lowcountry SC names new Board Member

April 25, 2016

The American Red Cross of Lowcountry SC is pleased to announce that Katarina Fjording of Volvo Car Group has joined the Board of Directors.

“It’s with great pleasure we welcome Katarina Fjording to our Lowcountry SC Board of Directors. We are fortunate to have her international expertise on our board and thrilled to have her and the Volvo family in our community,” said Paula Heinauer, chair of the board nominating committee.

Fjording is the Vice President, Purchasing and Manufacturing Americas for Volvo Car Group. An automotive veteran with 27 years of global industrial operations experience from Europe, Asia and America, she has held several senior positions before moving to the Lowcountry. She has served on the board of directors for Sunfleet Car Sharing since 2011 and was previously involved with the Red Cross as a Donor Center Volunteer from 2001-2004 while living in the US Midwest working for Ford Motor Company.

Each year in the Lowcountry, the Red Cross provides food, shelter, comfort and hope to more than 1,200 people who faced emergency situations. This past year, when the historic rains and floods displaced families from their homes, volunteers opened shelters for families evacuated from their homes, provided meals, distributed relief items and cleanup supplies, and provided health and mental health services to the community. Volunteers are still helping families affected by the flooding overcome roadblocks standing between them and recovery.

To help neighbors affected by disasters, become a Red Cross volunteer or support the Red Cross as part of Lowcountry Giving Day on May 3. For more information on how you can help the Lowcountry when it is needed most, visit RedCross.org/SC.
