Amy Gaffney honored in new edition of Best Lawyers

ISLE OF PALMS, SC – October 12, 2012 – Amy L. Gaffney, a founding member of the South Carolina law firm of Gaffney Lewis & Edwards, has been included in the latest edition of The Best Lawyers in America in two practice areas.
Gaffney, who practices in the firm’s Isle of Palms office, was recognized in Employment Law – Individuals and Employment Law – Management and Litigation – Labor & Employment. It’s the first time she’s been included in Best Lawyers, though other publications have honored her work in employment law.
Inclusion in Best Lawyers is based on a rigorous peer-review survey of more than 4 million top attorneys in the country. The process is designed to create a consensus opinion of leading lawyers about the professional abilities of colleagues within the same geographical and practice areas. The annual publication has been described by The American Lawyer as the most respected referral list of attorneys in practice.
It’s unusual for an attorney to be identified as an employment law leader in representing both employees and employers, but that’s exactly the case with Amy, Gaffney Lewis & Edwards member Regina Hollins Lewis said. That she was recognized for her abilities to represent either side in a dispute is a salute to her legal skills, experience and breadth of knowledge.
Gaffney has practiced in the Palmetto State since shortly after graduating from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1994. Along with Lewis and Susan Rawls Edwards, she formed Gaffney Lewis & Edwards in 2007.
In addition to employment law, Gaffney practices general litigation. She also is a certified mediator and has conducted internal investigations on behalf of a number of companies, including major national retailers.
