Amy Love to Lead S.C. Department of Commerce’s Marketing and Communications Division

COLUMBIA, SC – July 13, 2011 – The South Carolina Department ofCommerce today announced that Amy E. Love will lead the agency’sMarketing and Communications division, serving as spokeswoman.

Love comes to the S.C. Department of Commerce from New Carolina – SouthCarolina’s Council on Competitiveness, where she was the deputyexecutive director. Love was part of the start-up team that launched NewCarolina in 2004, an economic development group focused on a statewidecluster development strategy.

Prior to New Carolina, Love worked in corporate communications forGerman telecommunications company Deutsche Telekom in Europe. Duringgraduate school, Love developed and ran the public information programfor USDA Rural Development in South Carolina.

“Amy’s background in communications and economic development in SouthCarolina make her a great fit for this position,” said Bobby Hitt,Secretary of Commerce. “We are excited she is joining our leadershipteam.”

Love holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Furman University and amaster’s degree in Public Relations from the University of SouthCarolina. She is a a member of the Public Relations Society of America,and graduate of Leadership South Carolina (LSC) Class of 2007, andserved on the LSC Board of Trustees. Love is a Fellow of the seventhclass of the Liberty Fellowship.
