‘An Event 50 Years in the Making’: 1976 Andrews documentary to premiere August 18

A rare window into the history of Andrews is finally making its debut after spending half a century locked away in a time capsule. The historic film, Andrews 1976, will receive its highly anticipated public screening on Tuesday, August 18, at 5:30 pm at the Andrews Library, located at 105 N. Morgan Ave.
The community is invited to the premiere of Andrews 1976, a documentary filmed by the late Andrews resident Lee Parsons. Capturing the essence of daily life in the town during the nation’s Bicentennial year, the original recording was placed into a 50-year time capsule that was recently opened on July 4, 2026.
Now completely digitized, the historic film will be shown to the public for the very first time. The special premiere event will feature a dedicated introduction by Parsons’ grandson, Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Bill Wisneski.
The screening is free and open to the public, though attendees are encouraged to arrive early as seating is limited. Light refreshments will be provided courtesy of the Friends of the Andrews Library.
