AnMed Health names vice president for advancement

December 2, 2010

ANDERSON, SC – December 2, 2010 – AnMed Health is pleased to announce that Michael Cunningham has been promoted to vice president for advancement. Cunningham was hired in July 2009 as director of communications.

During the past year, Cunningham has served as a media spokesperson for the executive office; developed relationships with local, state and federal leaders; coordinated community sponsorships; assisted in fundraising activities and provided staff assistance to the Board of Trustees. Cunningham will retain these responsibilities in his new role. He will also oversee the AnMed Health Foundation, Volunteer Services and the Marketing department.

“It has been an honor to be associated with AnMed Health,” Cunningham said. “I’m humbled and excited about this new opportunity. I feel truly blessed to have a chance to continue to serve the community through this great organization.”

AnMed Health CEO John Miller said Cunningham’s new role will better equip the health system to meet the challenges ahead. Philanthropy has always been an integral part of health care, but it will become an even more significant way of funding services in the years to come.

“Michael has clearly demonstrated that he has the ability to handle more responsibility than he was initially given,” Miller said. “He has quickly become a valuable member of our executive team.”

Cunningham is a 1995 graduate of Clemson University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science with a minor in English. In 1997, he completed a Masters in Public Administration in a joint degree program from Clemson University and the University of South Carolina.

Cunningham came to AnMed Health with more than 10 years of public sector experience. Outside of work, he has been a tireless servant to the Anderson community. He’s a mentor for Anderson School District 5 and serves on a number of boards including:

•    Anderson Federal Credit Union Board of Directors
•    First Steps of Anderson County Board of Directors
•    Salvation Army Advisory Board
•    Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club Advisory Council
