AnMed Health suspends visitation and postpones elective surgeries

March 24, 2020

For the safety of our patients, community and staff, AnMed Health has implemented additional restrictions on visitation to its hospital campuses, Emergency Department, and outpatient facilities.

Effective 7 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2020, visitation will be limited to only three situations:

  • End-of-life situations
  • Labor & Delivery
  • Pediatric patients

These patients will be allowed only one visitor at a time. Other family members will not be allowed in the waiting areas and must remain outside the facilities. Visitors under the age of 16 will not be allowed to visit any hospital campus.

The decision to suspend visitation follows recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC), as well as state and federal leadership. We encourage families to use alternative means of communicating with their loved ones, and if needed, wait in their vehicles while a patient attends an appointment – in accordance with state and federal guidelines for limiting personal interactions.

These restrictions apply to the following facilities:

  • AnMed Health Medical Center
  • AnMed Health Women’s and Children’s Hospital
  • AnMed Health Oglesby Center
  • AnMed Health Cannon
  • AnMed Health clinics, practices, labs, procedure areas, and radiology areas

In addition to these visitation restrictions, AnMed Health will be closing many entrances to hospitals and facilities. Signage will direct patients to open entryways. Be prepared to have your temperature taken and answer questions about your health, travel and exposure to others who have tested positive for COVID-19. Visitors with symptoms or possible exposure will be asked not to visit the facility.

Certain screenings and testing, such as mammograms, are being rescheduled, with the health system notifying patients. Further, in cases where it is possible, AnMed Health is postponing elective surgeries and procedures beginning Monday, March 23, 2020.
