Announcing the Summer Business Academy at Coker College

HARTSVILLE, SC – May 20, 2014 – Coker College is hosting a Summer Business Academy for rising high school juniors and seniors June 16-20.

Sponsored by Wells Fargo and Coker Enactus, the program was designed to help qualified high school students develop an in-depth understanding of business principles. Students who successfully complete the program will receive three college credits.

The program’s instruction will be led by Karen Hamilton, associate professor of business administration and chair of the business administration department. Guest presentations will be given by regional experts in the fields of finance, human resources, management, strategic planning and marketing. In addition, students will be challenged to develop a team project of an original business plan with an oral presentation.

Up to twenty students will be selected to participate in the Business Academy. To be eligible for the program, students must be rising juniors or seniors with a grade point average of at least a 2.8 on a 4.0 scale. To apply, students must submit an essay that explains why they are interested and provide a copy of their most recent transcript or report card.
