Artist Minute – James Busby, Visual Artist

James Busby, Visual Artist

James Busby is an artist living and working in Chapin SC who makes abstract, minimalist paintings. These beautiful paintings are carefully crafted, labor-intensive compositions. He adds multiple layers of gesso over birch plywood panels while sanding and polishing each layer.

James has had individual and group shows all over the world in galleries from New York, to London, Stockholm, Paris and Rome. His work has also been featured in Columbia SC at the 701 Center for Contemporary Art.

He has also taught drawing and printmaking at the University of South Carolina since 2004.
