Arts Center of Kershaw County to screen Hamilton as part of Revolutionary Series on October 9th

Free community screening brings the acclaimed musical to Camden with food trucks, history, and a SC250 celebration of the American Revolution

The Arts Center of Kershaw County will bring the award-winning musical phenomenon Hamilton to the big screen on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 7:00 PM as part of its SC250 Revolutionary Series, celebrating South Carolina’s role in the American Revolution. The Disney pro-shot of the Broadway hit will be shown on a 40 ft. screen outdoors on the Arts Center lawn. Admission is free, and blankets and lawn chairs are welcome. Food trucks and beverage sales will be available during the screening. The Arts Center Revolutionary Series is made possible through grant support from the South Carolina American Revolution Sestercentennial Commission and the Duke Energy Foundation.

The free community screening will give audiences the opportunity to experience the filmed version of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s groundbreaking Tony® Award-Winning musical, which tells the story of American founding father Alexander Hamilton through a blend of hip-hop, R&B, jazz, and traditional musical theatre.

And because no great movie night should happen on an empty stomach, guests can make an evening of it with three food trucks on site: Wurst Wagen, Kona Ice, and Vaquero Tacos. Food will be available for purchase before and during the event, giving families and friends an opportunity to gather, eat, and enjoy the evening together.

“Hamilton has become one of the defining works of contemporary musical theatre, but it is also a fascinating way to engage audiences with the people and ideas surrounding the American Revolution,” said Chad Henderson, Executive Director of the Arts Center of Kershaw County. “We wanted this to feel like more than simply coming to see a movie. It’s an opportunity for the community to gather, enjoy some great food, and experience this extraordinary piece of storytelling together.”

The Hamilton screening is part of the Arts Center’s SC250 Revolutionary Series, a collection of programs examining the history, people, stories, and legacy of the American Revolution through film, theatre, and live programming.

The series is made possible through grant support from the South Carolina American Revolution Sestercentennial Commission (SC250) and the Duke Energy Foundation.

The Arts Center will continue its Revolutionary Series with a screening of The Patriot on November 14, featuring a special pre-show lecture exploring the history, myths, and realities surrounding the American Revolution. From November 12–21, Tony Scully’s The Battle of Camden will take the stage in the Arts Center’s Black Box Theatre, offering audiences a theatricalized retelling of the infamous 1780 battle that shaped Camden’s place in American history.
