Association of Fundraising Professionals announces 2016 National Philanthropy Day winners

The SC Central Carolina Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) with Presenting Sponsor Michael J. Mungo Foundation, will honor the finest achievements of the philanthropic community in the Midlands at the 26th Annual National Philanthropy Day on October 27from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Columbia Marriott.

The 2016 National Philanthropy Day Award recipients are:

  • Outstanding Corporation – Michael J. Mungo Foundation
  • Outstanding Fundraising Executive – Louis Fawcett, EdVenture
  • Outstanding Marketing Professional in Support of Philanthropy –Ashley Dusenbury, Palmetto Health Foundation
  • Outstanding Philanthropists – Frank and Sarah Brown
  • Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser – Mike Brenan, BB&T, and Sara Fawcett, EDENS
  • Outstanding Volunteer Group Fundraiser – Palmetto Health Foundation Board of Directors

“The Central SC Chapter of AFP is proud to honor philanthropists, volunteers and professionals who are on the front lines of changing and saving lives every day,” said Jennifer McCormack, AFP Central SC Chapter President. “This is our 26th year hosting National Philanthropy Day and it is shaping up to be one of the largest events in our history.”

The event will also recognize the 6th Annual Charlotte L. Berry Spirit of Philanthropy Scholarships recipients. The scholarship was established to honor Berry’s philanthropic and community building efforts across the Midlands while supporting the professional evolution of fundraising officers in underfunded organizations and underrepresented populations through membership in AFP.

The 2016 winners of the Charlotte Lunsford Berry Spirit of Philanthropy Scholarships are:

  • Becky Wych, United Way of the Midlands, Young Development Professional
  • Mitzie Renwick, Palmetto Animal Assisted Life Services (PAALS), Development Professional
