Last weekend was the grand opening of the SC State Museum’s BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Planetarium.  I was out of town so I missed the grand opening, but can’t wait to go see the Seven Wonders show this weekend.  There’s just something inspiring about watching the stars.

Speaking of starry inspiration, have you ever wondered if your zodiacs sign influences any of your sense of style?  If you believe in the zodiac then this just one more layer of influence.  Check out these interesting facts on the zodiac-fashion connection:

1.   Capricorn.  While they gravitate towards quick, easy pieces that should not be interpreted as laziness.  Capricorns enjoy quality fabrics in simple, classic cuts.  That’s what gives them the ability to throw it on and go.  Often minimalist and always elegant they love dark, neutral tones and shades.

2.   Aquarius.  Breaking the mold.  Aquarians like being independent and unique.  New styles and new designers capture their attention a lot faster that classic, traditional ones.  Their color choices are just as bold with bright including neon tones and shades.

3.   Pisces.  Like water, Pisces want their clothes to flow and float.  They avoid anything tight or restrictive, both in construction and fabric.  A Pisces also likes things that sparkle and tend to accessorize with crystals and sequins.  They are most comfortable in pale shades of blue, green, pink and purple.

4.   Aries.   No fuss. No muss.  An Aries will run from anything fussy, flowery or embellished.  Leather jackets, jeans and a simple top are their go-to looks.  Preferring cut to everything else, modern styles with clear lines and angles most appeal to them.  While they like neutrals they also love red and will often accent with it.

5.   Taurus.  Practical, understated and very texture oriented.  A Taurus gravitates toward pieces that feel good to the touch.   Following their practical nature, they also tend to invest in classic pieces in quality materials.  Neutral tones are their preference, but they like to ‘pop’ it with light shades of pink, green and blue.

6.   Gemini.  They want it all and expect their wardrobe to keep up.  Striving to balance home with work and professional with casual in clothing can be tricky, so a Gemini tends to focus on separates.  They want pieces to mix-and-match according to the situation.  This approach relies heavily on accessories to change up the pieces and carry your outfit from one event to the next.

7.   Cancer.  Light and soft fabrics are a must for Cancers.  They like to feel elegant and somewhat aloof, opting for natural fabrics in light, pale shades with a slight iridescent quality.

8.   Leo.  Big, bold and fully committed.  These adjectives describe both a Leo’s personality and style.  Never one to be understated, a Leo loves to pair their favorite colors, red, purple and orange, with their iconic color gold.  They also prefer to have quality to quantity.

9.    Virgo.  Detail oriented both in outlook and fashion, Virgos prefer to have both function and form.  Fabrics, fasteners and stitching are all important as well as multi-functional pieces that can be worn over several seasons.  Autumn colors tend to be among their favorites.

10.   Libra.  Masters of balance, a Libra’s outfit, like other aspects of their lives, must be balanced and proportional.   They also look for subtle touches that set them apart and play on their creativity.

11.   Scorpio.  All business.  Their approach to life matches their approach to fashion.  Clean lines, well-tailored and neutral, muted tones dominate their wardrobe.  That doesn’t mean they are devoid of passion or lack sex appeal.  They just keep it underneath the clothes.

12.   Sagittarius.  Unassuming and practical.  A Sagittarius enjoys polished, tailored pieces that are simple and allow easy movement.  Classic menswear and menswear inspired pieces will always be their first choice.

Whether you believe the zodiac is influential or not, it is fun to step back and assess how our personality and tastes comes through in everything we do, including the clothes we choose.  And sometimes just staring up at the stars aimlessly is fun too.
