The Lexington Chamber & Visitors Center announced that Austin McVay, Commercial Relationship Manager with United Community Bank, has been named the Chamber’s 2026–2027 Chairman of the Board.

McVay succeeds Trey Powell of Mosquito Joe of Lake Murray, who served as Chairman during the 2025–2026 term. The Chamber extends its sincere appreciation to Powell for his leadership, dedication, and service to the organization and the Lexington business community.

With more than 13 years of experience in commercial banking, McVay works closely with businesses throughout the Midlands to provide financing and cash management solutions that foster growth and long-term success. He is also currently enrolled in the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University.

McVay has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to serving the community through his involvement with numerous nonprofit and civic organizations, including United Way of the Midlands, the Rotary Club of Columbia Capital, Central South Carolina Habitat for Humanity, Youth Corps, the Lexington Chamber & Visitors Center, and the South Carolina Bankers Association’s Emerging Leaders Division. In 2025, he was recognized as the United Way of the Midlands’ Judith M. David Volunteer of the Year for his exceptional service.

His leadership experience includes serving as Board Chair of Youth Corps, Chair and Past Chair of the United Way of the Midlands Palmetto Society Cabinet, Board Member, Advocacy Committee Chair, Secretary, and Chair-Elect of the Lexington Chamber & Visitors Center, and Board Member and Foundation Chair of the Rotary Club of Columbia Capital.

“As we begin a new fiscal year, we are excited to welcome Austin as Chairman of the Board,” said Angelle LaBorde, President & CEO of the Lexington Chamber & Visitors Center. “His passion for serving our community, commitment to leadership, and dedication to strengthening local businesses make him an outstanding choice to lead our Board.”

Austin and his wife, Kelly, reside in Lexington, where they enjoy traveling and spending time with family and friends.

“I am honored to serve as Chairman of the Lexington Chamber & Visitors Center Board of Directors,” said McVay. “The Chamber plays a vital role in strengthening our business community and enhancing the quality of life throughout Lexington.
