Back on the Rails: Heritage Park Railway Returns for the 2026 Season

April 1, 2026

One of the most beloved family traditions in the Golden Strip is officially pulling back into the station. The Heritage Park Railway, Simpsonville’s iconic miniature replica steam engine, is scheduled to begin its 2026 season this Saturday, April 4.

The train, which takes passengers on a scenic loop through the wooded areas and rolling hills of Heritage Park, has long been a centerpiece for weekend family outings in the Upstate.

Weekend Schedule and Hours The railway will operate on a consistent weekend schedule throughout the spring and summer months, providing ample opportunity for families to catch a ride.

  • Saturdays: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

  • Sundays: 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

All operations remain weather-permitting. In the event of heavy rain or lightning, city officials may suspend rides for the safety of the passengers and the equipment. Residents are encouraged to check the Heritage Park Railway social media pages for real-time updates regarding weather delays.

Affordable Family Fun The City of Simpsonville continues to maintain the railway as an accessible option for local families. Tickets remain priced at 3 dollars per person, while children under the age of 2 can ride for free with a ticketed adult.

A critical reminder for visitors: the ticket booth is cash or check only. The railway does not currently accept credit or debit cards, and there are no ATMs located within the immediate vicinity of the Heritage Park playground or train station.

A Simpsonville Staple The miniature train is more than just a ride; it is a piece of local history that has served generations of residents in the Golden Strip. Located near the expansive Heritage Park playground and the CCNB Amphitheatre, the railway often serves as the anchor for a full day of outdoor activity.

Whether you are a lifelong resident of Mauldin or Simpsonville or a newcomer to the area, the return of the train whistle to Heritage Park is a sure sign that spring is in full swing in the Upstate.
