Ballet Spartanburg announces formation of Ballet Ensemble as part of 2017-2018 community outreach

September 6, 2017

Ballet Spartanburg has formed a new Ballet Ensemble after carefully reflecting the importance of connecting community, service and the art of dance. The new ensemble will connect the community through performance opportunities

“The Ensemble is comprised of Advanced Ballet Division and the Boys Division students. In a recent meeting, the students discussed the many ways that they could as young dancers could give back to those who might not be able to attend a performance. The ensemble has committed to reaching out to areas in our community to perform classical and contemporary works to deliver the joy and beauty of dance to facilities with homebound residents. As part of the visits, the ensemble will speak with individuals, take photos and connect with residents. It is a beautiful way for these young ladies and men to engage and to return their blessings”, Lona Gomez, The Center for Dance Education and Ballet Spartanburg’s Ballet Mistress.

“We hope that through this program each of our young men and ladies will stand taller and stronger in grace, poise and strength of character. This is a free outreach program and we hope the community will contact us to bring the art of dance to any facility or organization who would like for us to visit. We are very proud of these committed dancers who are rehearsing many hours on their own time who feel it is important to always give back to their community.”
