Racial equality funding supports MTC’s QuickJobs programs

Bank of America has awarded the Midlands Technical College Foundation a $100,000 grant for workforce development that is essential to the Midlands economy. The donation funds scholarships for MTC QuickJobs.

QuickJobs programs help close the skills gap through courses for individuals who are looking for better paying work and careers. Bank of America’s investment provides scholarships for those who are willing and able to fill vacant positions in high-demand fields, but need money to pay the tuition for training.

“This grant is part of Bank of America’s focus on advancing racial equality and economic opportunity,” said Dr. Ron Rhames, MTC President. “It is perfectly aligned with our college’s mission of providing education that guides people along pathways to family-sustaining careers which lift our entire community.”

QuickJobs programs last from three weeks to 15 months. Upon completion, graduates are hired in industries including business, health care, information technology, skilled trades, and advanced manufacturing.

“At Bank of America we have long focused on workforce development as one of our key initiatives in this region and across our state,” said Kim Wilkerson, president, Bank of America South Carolina. “Working together alongside leading organizations like Midlands Tech to support programs like QuickJobs is how we can make a true impact in economic mobility. Over a third of our local grants are directed to workforce development and education programs that help people succeed – in school, in financial health and so they are prepared to have successful long-term careers that will positively impact families and our community overall.”

“Bank of America’s investment in workforce development will truly transform lives,” said Nancy McKinney, Associate Vice President for Philanthropy/CEO of the MTC Foundation. “The entire MTC family is grateful for our on-going partnership with Bank of America and their commitment to helping unemployed and underemployed individuals have access to career training.”
