Baptist Disaster Relief announces assistance for flood damaged homes

October 7, 2015

CONWAY, SC  – Baptist Disaster Relief has announced assistance for homeowners whose properties were damaged by flood waters.  The assistance is without charge and is open to all Horry County property owners regardless of insurance; rentals and businesses are not eligible.  In order to qualify, home owners should contact the Federal Emergency Management Agency (1-800-621-3362/1-800-462-7585 TTY) to begin the disaster assistance process.  After applying through FEMA, homeowners will then need to obtain an application at any Red Cross shelter or at the Living Water Baptist Church located at 1569 Highway 9 East in Longs, SC.  Homeowners must apply in person.

Once qualified for assistance, Baptist Disaster Relief will assist the homeowner in removing damaged items and sheetrock and then apply a short term mold retardant (bleach/water). Homeowners are reminded that Horry County does not provide debris pickup.  Debris will need to be taken to one of the 24 Horry County Solid Waste Authority’s recycling convenience centers (www.solidwasteauthority.org).
