Barnwell Whaley Patterson & Helms Names Michael Barfield Member

CHARLESTON, SC – May 12, 2009 –  Michael Barfield of Barnwell Whaley Patterson & Helms, LLC, a 70-year old Charleston-based law firm with a focus on complex litigation, has been named member.

Barfield, who previously served as special counsel for the firm, focuses his practice in the areas of professional negligence, construction litigation, commercial litigation, property related litigation, and personal injury.

 Barfield is admitted to practice before all South Carolina courts, including the Court of Appeals, the State Supreme Court, and the Federal District Courts. He is a member of the South Carolina Bar Association, where he serves on the Lawyer’s Fund for Client Protection Committee, as well as the Charleston County Bar Association and the American Bar Association. A native of Charleston, Barfield earned his B.A. from Furman University and his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law. He joined Barnwell Whaley immediately upon graduating from law school.
