Bauknight Pietras & Stormer CPAs hires Kevin Guy to support rapidly growing captive insurance client base

Bauknight Pietras & Stormer, P.A. (BPS), announced that Kevin Guy, CPA, ACI, has joined the firm as audit manager. Guy, who will be based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, will be focused on supporting the South Carolina-based accounting and tax consultancy firm’s rapidly growing captive insurance and general insurance client base in the United States and internationally.
Guy brings to BPS more than 18 years of experience in public accounting with Big Four accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers and regional audit firms in the greater Philadelphia area. Guy has worked extensively with clients in the insurance industry, largely captives, property and casualty, and reinsurance. This includes planning and executing audits, analyzing financial reporting processes, and providing guidance on technical accounting issues.
Additionally, Guy holds the Associate in Captive Insurance (ACI) designation through the International Center for Captive Insurance Education.

Demand for BPS’s expertise in captives has accelerated over the last few years, driven by challenges in commercial insurance sectors. Significant premium increases have led many businesses to form captives to insure their risks. In addition, businesses with existing captives have been expanding the coverages of their captives. This has resulted in a large increase in both the number of captive insurance companies and the scope of audit and tax work required for existing captive clients.
Guy’s joining BPS is well timed. “Based on BPS’s expertise and reputation in the captive industry, there is a strong alignment between my professional goal and the firm’s goal of growing as a leader in this niche. Guy earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of the West Indies. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is a licensed certified public accountant in Pennsylvania and Delaware.
