BB&T gift benefits Lexington District One International Baccalaureate students

June 4, 2019

Lexington County School District One held a ribbon cutting ceremony at Lexington High School on Thursday, May 30, 2019, to commemorate BB&T’s investment in the district’s International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.

BB&T’s donation of $50,000 to the Lexington District One Educational Foundation allowed the district to create an IB Learning Lab at LHS. This lab functions as both a classroom and a space for academic collaboration.

Authorized as an IB World School in 2006, LHS hosts the district’s IB program, featuring rigorous, pre-university courses that meet the needs of highly motivated students during their junior and senior years. Curriculum focuses on high academic standards, international understanding and citizenship, and second language proficiency. Courses prepare students with breadth and depth of knowledge, expose them to a wide variety of academic core courses, and prepare them to flourish in their future educational experiences and careers.

Dr. Greg Little, superintendent of Lexington District One, personally thanked Michael R. Brenan, president of BB&T S.C. Region, for the bank’s investment in the district’s students. Support of academic programs via donations to the Foundation empowers students to design their own futures.
