June 8, 2026

The public is invited to review, provide feedback, and share ideas for addressing issues

Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Governments  (BCDCOG) is hosting a public information meeting for the US 17A Corridor & Congestion  Management Plan on Tuesday, June 9, from 5 pm until 7 pm at Sangaree Middle School, 1050  Discovery Lane, in Ladson.

This meeting will provide an opportunity to review the existing conditions in the corridor, provide  feedback on traffic and safety issues, offer initial ideas for addressing them, and discuss the  proposed project with representatives from BCDCOG.

The severity of congestion and traffic safety along and around the US 17A/N. Main Street  corridor in Berkeley and Dorchester Counties is a constant and ever-growing concern. Nearby  roadways, including College Park Road and Royle Road, are also experiencing high delays and  traffic safety issues. The Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Governments (BCDCOG) is  preparing the US 17A Corridor Management Plan to help alleviate the existing congestion and to  accommodate continued growth in the area.

The Corridor Management Plan study area is from US78/5Th N. Street to Cypress Gardens  Road, approximately 7.5 miles, along US17A; College Park Road from US 17A/N. Main Street to  south of the I-26 interchange in Berkeley County – a length of approximately 4.0 miles, and  Royle Road from US 17A/N. Main Street to US 78 in Berkeley County – a length of  approximately 2.5 miles.
