Behavioral Health Services Association of South Carolina Elects 2014-2015 Officers

COLUMBIA, SC – The Behavioral Health Services Association of South Carolina (BHSA) announces their Board of Directors for 2014-2015.

Randy Cole, Chief Executive Officer of the Circle Park Behavioral Health Services serving Florence, SC has been elected President.

Vice President is Vernon Kennedy, Sr., Executive Director of Fairfield Behavioral Health Services serving Fairfield County.

Janet Martini has been re-elected as Secretary.  Ms. Martini is the Executive Director of Keystone Substance Abuse Services providing services in York County.

Dan Neel has been re-elected Treasurer of the association.  Mr. Neel is the Executive Director of the Saluda Behavioral Health Services in Saluda County.

Regional Representatives serving on the Board of Directors are Hugh Gray, Director of Westview Behavioral Health Services in Newberry County, Region 1, who also serves as the Performance Committee Chair; Gayle Aycock, Executive Director of Lexington Richland Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council (LRADAC), Region 2; Glenn Peagler, Executive Director of Sumter Behavioral Health Services serving Sumter County, Region 3, also serving as the Chair of the Prevention Committee; and Jerome Tilghman, Executive Director of the Ernest E. Kennedy Center located in Berkeley County, Region 4.

Serving At-Large terms on the Board of Directors are: Bob Hiott, Executive Director of Behavioral Health Services of Pickens County; and Sammy Miller, Executive Director of the Dorchester Alcohol and Drug Commission.

Donny Brock, Executive Director of Trinity Behavioral Care serving Dillon, Marion and Marlboro counties is the Chair of the Treatment Services Committee.

Beth Powell, Executive Director of the Cherokee County Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, has been appointed the Chair of the Public Policy Committee.

Mike Dennis, Executive Director of the Tri-County Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse serving Bamberg, Calhoun and Orangeburg counties and includes the William J. McCord Adolescent Treatment Facility, is serving as the chair of the EHR Committee, whose purpose is to monitor the statewide implementation and maintenance of the electronic health record.

The Mission of BHSA is to support member agencies in the provision of quality behavioral health services that effectively meet the needs of the client and the community.  BHSA is made up of the 33 local alcohol and drug abuse authorities designated by Act 301 of 1973, providing prevention, intervention and treatment services to the citizens of the 46 counties of South Carolina.
