Benefitfocus supports next generation of computing talent

Benefitfocus Annual Scholarship supports Clemson University’s next generation of computer scientists, engineers and software developers
CHARLESTON, SC – Benefitfocus, Inc. (NASDAQ: BNFT), a leading provider of cloud-based benefits management software, today announced its continued $50,000 commitment to Clemson University. Since 2012, the Benefitfocus Annual Scholarships support students in the College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences, specifically those majoring in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems and Computer Engineering.

Benefitfocus celebrates 2015-2016 academic year recipients: Tyler Kennedy, Allyson Rosado and Robert Underwood.
Tyler Kennedy is a sophomore at Clemson University from Gastonia, N.C. He is pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering with a possible minor in Math. Tyler is a member of Tiger Band, the eSports Club and the Calhoun Honors College. He plans to start a co-op rotation with Michelin in the fall of 2016, and after graduation he hopes to pursue a career in computer engineering. He would like to share his gratitude with Benefitfocus for providing this scholarship, noting, “As an out-of-state student, this scholarship really helps offset the high costs of tuition.”
Allyson Rosado is a junior at Clemson University from Mount Pleasant, S.C. She is pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering with a minor in Mathematical Sciences. Allyson serves as a resident assistant and is a member of the Catholic Student Association. After graduation, Allyson plans to work in the industry as a computer engineer.
Robert Underwood is a senior at Clemson University from Lexington, S.C. He is pursuing a degree in Computer Science. Robert serves as the vice president for Clemson’s chapter of the Association of Computing Machinery, the vice president for student organization Ratio Christi and is a member of the CU Cyber team. After graduating, he plans to pursue a Ph.D. in Computer Science so he can teach computer science at the university level.
