Benjamin Glass Named Managing Shareholder of Ogletree Deakins’ Charleston Office

CHARLESTON, SC – February 17, 2014 – Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. (Ogletree Deakins), one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, is pleased to announce that Benjamin Glass has been named managing shareholder of the firm’s Charleston office. Glass succeeds Eric Schweitzer who remains a shareholder in the firm’s Charleston office.

Glass is an accomplished litigator and labor lawyer with nearly 20 years of experience in South Carolina. He focuses his practice on litigating employment law matters and assisting clients with labor law issues. He regularly represents clients before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Department of Labor (DOL) and National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), as well as the South Carolina Human Affairs Commission and Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation. In addition to his litigation practice, Glass regularly provides clients with advice on a wide range of federal and state employment laws and regulations.

Glass is also active in the civic and business community. He serves on the Board of Advisors for the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce, and is a graduate of the Chamber’s Leadership Charleston program. He has also worked closely with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, and currently serves as Vice President of Administration for Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim, where he has led the search for both a Senior Rabbi and, currently, an Assistant Rabbi.

Glass received a B.A. from the College of Charleston and his J.D., cum laude, from the University of South Carolina School of Law. After a two year clerkship with United States District Judge Henry M. Herlong, Jr., Glass joined Ogletree Deakins in Greenville, South Carolina in 1995 before returning home to Charleston in 1998.
