November 4, 2025

Site spans 15 acres on Lake Moultrie in Moncks Corner

Berkeley County’s Mega Boat Landing is set to open May 2026. The site was previously Atkins Boat Landing/Lions Beach, located at 933 Broughton Road in Moncks Corner.

The Mega Boat Landing spans approximately 15 acres on Lake Moultrie. The property is being renovated and expanded to include the following:

  • Six boat ramps with docks for launching/recovering boats
  • Dredged area to depth of 7.5 ft.
  • Dock protected by new 565 ft. long break wall
  • Space for approximately 36 boats to be docked at the marina
  • 4,200 sq. ft. open-air event pavilion
  • Walking trail – 0.6 miles around the landing
  • Two beaches – 58,000 sq. ft. of beach
  • Picnic shelters and benches
  • Public restroom facility
  • Remodeling of current pavilion – 7,300 sq. ft. to provide space for rental opportunities
  • 100’ flagpole with 30 x 50 ft. flag
  • 185 boat trailer parking spaces
  • 185 single car parking spaces
  • Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Safe Boat enclosure and independent dock for emergency services
  • Emergency Call stations for 911 in the event of an emergency on site
  • Power for vendors on-site during hosted/rented events
  • Security cameras and free Wi-Fi

Total cost of the Mega Boat Landing project is approximately $10.5 million. Funding stems from Berkeley County Delegation “Water Recreation Funds,” Berkeley County Accommodations Tax Funds, SC state budget appropriations, and a US Fish & Wildlife Service grant from the SC Department of Natural Resources. Santee Cooper has also provided a long-term gratis lease to Berkeley County for the project.

Additional costs are being offset by work performed in-house by Berkeley County Facilities & Grounds, Berkeley County Roads & Bridges, Berkeley County Stormwater Management, and Santee Cooper.

“This project represents a significant investment in our community’s quality of life. Residents have expressed the need for improved access to our beautiful waterways, and reviving this former landing and beach into a waterfront park delivers on that promise. We look forward to this site bringing people together and providing a lasting benefit for generations to come.” – Johnny Cribb, Berkeley County Supervisor
