Berkeley County Region Athletic Directors of the Year

March 24, 2015

MONCKS CORNER, SC – Three Berkeley County School District Athletic Directors were named Athletic Director of the Year for their regions.

Tim McDowell, Assistant Principal and Athletic Director of Cane Bay High School was chosen for Region 7, Class 4-A. Art Craig, Athletic Director at Timberland High School was chosen for Region 7, Class 2-A, and Jeff Cruce, Athletic Director at Berkeley High School was chosen for Region 8, Class 3-A.

All eight regions in all four classifications nominate an athletic director for their region. Regions choose athletic directors who do an outstanding job managing the athletic programs at their schools, who are actively involved in their classification and who promote the welfare of the student athletes in their school, region and classification.

Executive Director of the South Carolina Administrators Association (SCAAA), John Carlisle, said, “The athletic directors at the school level are the ones who make a daily impact on their coaches and athletes. They are responsible for the coaches, assistant coaches, fields, athletic facilities, transportation of teams and athletic budgets. They also interact with players and their parents. The list of what they do goes on and on. It is a pleasure for SCAAA to recognize athletic directors every year for doing their jobs so well.”

The board of the SCAAA will recognize the nominees with official certificates.
