The Charlotte region consists of about 2.7 million people living in the 16 counties in two different states, of which 12 counties are located in North Carolina.

This year, FUED will distribute $3,125 to the recipients. To date more than $13,000 in scholarships has been awarded to economic development professionals from the 16-county region.

Sponsors of the annual FUED golf tournament fund the scholarships for selected recipients. The organization of realtors, property developers, accountants, attorneys, bankers and other professionals in the Charlotte region meet monthly to discuss regional economic development topics.   All scholarship winners will serve on the golf tournament planning committee.  The golf tournament will be held on September 28 in Ballantyne.

“We appreciate FUED’s recognition of the critical role that regional economic developers play in growing a healthy economy,” says Bryant, CRP president and chief executive.

Each year FUED seeks to identify outstanding practitioners and to recognize and support their education and professional development.  The organization looks to honor individuals who have contributed to the profession, had a strong commitment to high professional and personal standards, and were highly successful in achieving their goals while earning the respect of their peers and associates.  This year 5 local economic development practitioners were selected.
