Beth Burke Richardson, a member with Robinson Gray law firm, is the new president of the South Carolina Chapter of the Federal Bar Association.
She was officially sworn in to the post at the organization’s 2019 Annual Meeting and CLE at the Pastides Alumni Center at the University of South Carolina on Sept. 26.
Her leadership of the organization is part of a pattern of commitment to the federal bar on the part of Robinson Gray. At the same meeting on Sept. 26, Robinson Gray associate Lisle Traywick was elected to the chapter’s board, and Member Rob Tyson served on the panel for a program on “Recent Law and the 2020 Election.”
The FBA consists of more than 18,000 lawyers, including 1,500 federal judges, who work together to promote the sound administration of justice and integrity, quality and independence of the federal judiciary.
The South Carolina chapter has more than 400 members, making it one of the largest chapters in the country.
The association monitors and sometimes advocates on issues that affect the practice of federal lawyers and the courts; provides opportunities for scholarship and education; and brings judges and attorneys together to interact professionally and socially.
Beth’s law practice at Robinson Gray focuses on business disputes of all kinds, in courtroom and arbitration settings, including FINRA. Her clients include publicly traded and private companies and their officers and employees, operating in a wide array of industries such as real estate development, insurance, energy and utility, restaurant and retail, financial investing, and health care. Beth also regularly assists other lawyers in ethics matters.
Beth is also highly active in the community, having served on the boards of Central Carolina Community Foundation, East Point Academy, and the Women’s Rights and Empowerment Network and having chaired the board of New Morning Foundation.
Last month, Beth was one of 25 Midlands women selected as 2019 Women of Influence by the Columbia Regional Business Report.
