Beyond Home Runs and Touchdowns: COR’s Emerging Columbia Series presents Sports in the Midlands + Their Impact – April 18

April 10, 2018

Wednesday, April 18, 5:30-7:30 p.m., Columbia Opportunity Resource invites the community to take a deep dive into the world of sports in the capital city region when they present Sports in the Midlands + Their Impact. The event is part of the organization’s Emerging Columbia series, which demystifies the workings of the region’s economic engine.

Sports in the Midlands + Their Impact will be held on the Broad River Balcony at Spirit Communications Park, overlooking the home field of the Columbia Fireflies. The panel discussion will be moderated by Curtis Wilson, announcer for Women’s and Men’s Gamecock Basketball, Gamecock Baseball, and Benedict College Football. Participating panelists include Abby Naas, Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations for the Fireflies, Eric Nichols, Chief Marketing Officer for Gamecock Athletics, Bill Shanahan, owner of the Lexington County Blowfish, and Scott Powers, Executive Director of Experience Columbia SC Sports.

Says event organizer Chloe Rodgers, “”I was thrilled to snag some of the best minds in the Midlands sports industry for this panel. They’re all eager to share their expertise and to discuss the impact the sports industry has on our community – and they’re all really supportive of one another’s niche.”

Tickets for the event are $15 for COR members and $30 for non-members. Ticket price includes 2 drink tickets, snacks, networking and the panel presentation. Tickets may be purchased at http://bit.ly/cola-sports
