Business community endorses 10 business champions

The Business and Industry in Greenville Political Action Committee (BIGPAC) endorsed 10 Upstate candidates today for the June 12th Primary Election.

“The incumbents have a record of supporting economic growth and the candidates have demonstrated a willingness to work closely with the Upstate business community,” said Bill Coates, the Chairman of BIGPAC. “While we do not always agree, BIGPAC supports public officials who are willing to work with us to move Greenville – and the Upstate – forward.”

The PAC endorsed candidates represent parts of four Upstate counties:

Senate District 5: Senator Tom Corbin (R-Greenville)

Senate District 7: Senator Karl Allen (D-Greenville)

Senate District 8: Senator Ross Turner (R-Greenville)

Senate District 12: Senator Scott Talley (R-Spartanburg)

House District 5: Rep. Neal Collins (R-Easley)

House District 8: Dr. Vaughn Parfitt (R-Anderson)

House District 10: Rep. West Cox (R-Piedmont)

House District 18: Rep. Tommy Stringer (R-Greer)

House District 25: Rep. Leola Robinson-Simpson (D-Greenville)

House District 35: Rep. Bill Chumley (R-Reidville)

“Our board supports these candidates, but we applaud anybody who stepped forward and put their name on a ballot,” Coates said. “We support not only the free-market economy but also a free exchange of ideas and constructive debate on the issues.”

BIGPAC is the political action committee with the mission of supporting the Greenville Chamber’s advocacy activities and is only involved in state-level races. BIGPAC is independent from the Greenville Chamber and BIGPAC’s board makes all decisions on endorsements.
