Bike Through History: Celebrate National Trails Day in Laurens County

If you’re looking for a fun and engaging way to celebrate National Trails Day this year, Laurens County has just the event for you. On June 1st, join fellow cycling enthusiasts for a historical ride that promises not only exercise and fresh air but also a glimpse into local history.

The Laurens County Trails Association, in collaboration with Prisma Health, invites riders to gather between 8:00 and 9:00 AM at the Vestibule in Clinton. This pre-ride gathering will be a perfect opportunity to enjoy some coffee and meet fellow participants.

The ride will commence at 9:00 AM, taking participants on a scenic 5-mile journey to the historic Hammond’s Store Battlefield. This site is significant as it marks a crucial event in the Revolutionary War, offering a unique opportunity to learn about the local heritage and the pivotal moments that took place there.

Upon arrival at Hammond’s Store Battlefield, riders will have a chance to explore the area and gain insights into its historical importance. Knowledgeable guides will be on hand to provide context and answer any questions, making this not just a physical exercise but an educational experience as well.

After soaking in the history and enjoying the surroundings, the group will embark on the return trip to Clinton, covering another 5 miles. The entire event is designed to wrap up by noon, leaving participants with plenty of time to enjoy the rest of their day.
